Professor Michael Kim is nationally recognized for the case-study teaching method he developed for use in the Architectural Practice Option. In his courses, students work closely with "teaching firms" to interpret the complex demands of clients, codes, and contractors as they relate to real buildings.
Professor Abbas Aminmansour coordinates the efforts of the Tang Committee, a group of prominent alumni, to organize an annual seminar entirely guest-taught by distinguished individuals representing every phase of the design and construction process. The course explores how architects collaborate with engineers, lawyers, developers, and government officials to lead projects from schematic design through completion.
These are just two examples of our commitment to connecting classroom and studio activities with the realities of professional practice. Every semester, leading practitioners from across the county sit in on student design reviews, give guest lectures, and teach courses. The Plym Professorship and Hilfinger Faculty Fellowship regularly attract distinguished practitioners to lead graduate courses and design studios.
The strong ties between our faculty and practitioners in the field assure that the curriculum remains relevant to the changing demands of the profession. Our M. Arch program will prepare you to be a team player as soon as you graduate and a team leader ten years out. We're committed to providing practical knowledge and skills that will last your entire career.
