Choose Your Own Direction

Our M. Arch curriculum is designed with a great deal of flexibility to accommodate the varied interests of our students and the breath of specialized opportunities available to architecture graduates today. Our option tracks and five joint-degree programs build on the core curriculum to assure all graduates enter the profession with fundamental skills and a valuable focus. Students with special interests in acoustics, community design, historic preservation, construction management, real estate development, structural engineering, and many other areas are able to focus on these topics through our graduate program.

While the established options and joint-degree programs reflect a broad spectrum of opportunities and the expertise of our faculty, students wishing to focus on an aspect of architecture not included in these programs are able to develop individual topical concentrations in architecture with the guidance of the Associate Director for Graduate Affairs and a faculty advisor. The faculty members of the School of Architecture and the resources of the University of Illinois (with over 100 areas of graduate study) are uniquely able to support interdisciplinary studies.

Students admitted to our graduate program have demonstrated records of academic excellence and personal motivation. We can provide direction and guidance, but graduate education is a personal journey.

Where do you want to go?

Students with special interests in acoustics, community design, historic preservation, construction management, real estate development, structural engineering, and many other areas are all able to focus on these topics through our graduate program.
