Tradition. Innovation. Excellence.

The School of Architecture at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign offers one of the top undergraduate architecture programs in the United States. Approaching architecture as both a humanistic and professional discipline, our outlook is both interdisciplinary and international. As the second oldest architecture program in the nation, boasting the first male and female graduates, we combine a strong sense of tradition with a firm commitment to innovation in order to provide a range of outstanding educational programs at the undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate levels.

Our students and faculty come from diverse academic and personal backgrounds but share a commitment to furthering the profession and discipline of architecture through excellence in teaching, scholarship, creative work, and public engagement. Graduates of the School depart with confidence in their abilities to contribute to professional practice. The School has one of the largest architecture alumni associations in the country—a rich resource for students and faculty and a valuable professional network for recent graduates.

The School of Architecture is a vibrant community with active student organizations, exciting extracurricular programs, and an engaging faculty. We are part of a great university, which provides access to incredible resources, and we are engaged internationally through 5 study abroad programs for students and additional faculty exchanges. If you’re excited about architecture, we invite you to join us. You’ll be glad you did.

The School of Architecture is based in Temple Hoyne Buell Hall, an ideal environment for design education, designed by Illinois alumnus Ralph Johnson of the renowned Chicago firm, Perkins and Will.
