Overview
The Master of Architecture program is for students holding a four-year pre-professional Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies (or equivalent degree in architecture). The Master of Architecture degree is a professional degree accredited by the National Architectural Accreditation Board (NAAB).
The graduate program in the School of Architecture is an open curriculum. Although not required, students may elect to concentrate in an area of specialization such as design, structures, technology, history and preservation as well as newly developing areas of research by taking additional courses in those areas.
All M. Arch Degree candidates must fulfill the requirements of the Graduate Core Curriculum as outlined below:
- Architectural Practice
- Structural Planning
- Theory of Architecture
- Four (4) Architectural Design Studios
- Professional Issues course from an approved list
- Architectural Thought course from an approved list
M. Arch candidates must fulfill 62 graduate credit hours, including the core requirements and electives to receive the Master of Architecture degree.
Sample Schedule
The 2-year program is for students holding an undergraduate degree in architectural studies. Students with other backgrounds may enter the 2-year program after completing an accelerated program to meet the architectural studies requirements.
