Other Activities
Supervise the AIA/CES program of the School. One-hundred sixty-five individuals attended courses during FY01. This increased to 290 individuals in FY02.
In the process of developing and field testing two computer-based courses for AIA/CES. These will be web based and CD-ROM based courses.
Work with the office of Native American Programs of HUD in providing technical assistance for the Indian Housing Block Grant (IHBG) program. This work involves maintaining a database on over 575 tribes and using that data for calculating the annual IHBG allocations for the tribes.
Conducted site review of data collection procedures at tribes: Tlingit-Haida, Zuni Pueblo, San Felipe Pueblo, Winabago, Rocky Boy Chippewa-Cree, White Earth Chippewa, Pascua Yaqui, and Cook Inlet, and provided report of findings to HUD. Participated in the report of findings of the site review of data collection of the Yurok Tribe.
Maintained the database for the Indian Housing Block Grant program reviewing or supervising the review of over 100 requests for data corrections and supporting documentation.
Ran the IHBG formula program to determine over funding of several Tribes.
Ran the IHBG formula program to determine an estimate of Tribal block grants for housing in July, then a final run in December. This was the basis for awarding funds to 577 tribes and their designated housing entities.
In the area of computer applications in architecture and design, Professor Anderson has developed software for the analysis of energy loss in single family homes and has taught computer-based design studios. Together with several colleagues he has been involved in the development of computer-based education strategies in architecture. This has led to several publications on computer-based education in the built environment. He has a working knowledge of several computer languages and operating systems. This includes the statistical package SPSS, the computer assisted interviewing language QPL, as well as 3D modeling software such as formZ.
