Last Thursday, May 12, 2016, the Chicago Committee on High Rise Buildings (CCHRB) elected Abbas Aminmansour as its Chair for a two year term effective June 1, 2016.
CCHRB is a technical committee of seventy some architects, engineers, constructors and other professionals in the areas of design, construction and operation of high rise buildings. I am one of two academics on the group and the first academic chair of the organization.
CCHRB members are prominent in their fields and have changed the skylines of many cities around the world. The group’s activities include helping the City of Chicago as well as other cities in developing new building codes and guidelines related to design, construction and operation of high rise buildings. In addition, CCHRB helps develop technical documents for national and international organizations on topics related to high rise buildings such as the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and monthly technical presentations on state-of-the-art in design and construction of safe and economical high rise buildings.
