Graduating students and their families gathered on Sunday, May 15 in Foellinger Auditorium for the Convocation Ceremony of the Illinois School of Architecture, the day after the University commencement ceremony.

Convocation began with the procession of degree candidates led by the traditional bagpiper.  Peter Mortensen, Director of the School welcomed the candidates and their families. Mr. Drake Dillard, AIA, NOMA, Senior Project Manager with Perkins+Will served as the keynote speaker; Mr. Dillard is a 1974 BSAS graduate of the School and 1976 MArch graduate of Howard University. Student speakers were Bradley Berg, BSAS 2016 and Brian Henks, MArch 2016.

By the numbers

The Illinois School of Architecture Class of 2016 consists of students who graduated Fall 2015 and Spring 2016, as well as those projected to graduate Summer 2016. The class totals 183 across the school's three disciplines.
