Perkins+Will Announces Elevation of David Hansen to the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects

Chicago — April 15, 2008 The College of Fellows of the national American Institute of Architects announces that design principal, David Hansen has been elevated to Fellow of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), a position regarded as one of the highest honors an American architect can receive. Fewer than 2 percent of all registered architects in the United States are elected to Fellowship in the AIA.

David Hansen, a Design Principal in Perkins+Will’s Chicago office, is an award-winning architect whose 30 years of experience has been culled from worldwide corporate, commercial and institutional projects. Over the past 10 years, David has led the planning and design of more than 35 million square feet of new development--including research labs, corporate headquarters, education facilities and healthcare facilities. Respected by clients for his success in translating functional requirements into beautiful, flexible design solutions, David has worked with and forged significant relationships with Fortune 500 clients. David received his Bachelors in Architecture from the University of Illinois and has served as an adjunct Professor in their Graduate Level, Integrated Design Studio for the past 12 years; he has also served as Critic in the Chicago Studio of Virginia Tech.

Notable accomplishments include: American Red Cross Chapter Headquarters in Chicago, Granger World Headquarters in Lake Forest, IL, Kraft Foods North America Corporate Headquarters in Northfield, Sears Headquarters in Hoffman Estates, IL, commissions for Samsung in Korea, Mori Trust Shiodome Tower in Tokyo, and a number of large-scale projects for Reliance Industries, in Mumbai and New Mumbai, India. In addition to his project involvement, David’s work has been exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago, The Sao Paolo Biennial, The Washington Design Center in Washington D.C., and the GSD at Harvard University.
