ST. CHARLES, ILLINOIS, November 1, 2007 - At the AIA Illinois Honor Awards Dinner & Ceremony at the Historic Hotel Baker in St. Charles, Illinois on Tuesday, November 1, 2007, UIUC School of Architecture Professor Robert I. Selby, FAIA, received the statewide organizations highest award for educators.

The plaque he received reads as follows:
“AIA Illinois a council of the American Institute of Architects is pleased to confer this Nathan Clifford Ricker Award on Robert I. Selby, FAIA recognizing the dedication and talent of an AIA member architecture educator in Illinois".

The award is named after the first person to graduate from a university program in architecture in the United States. Ricker graduated from the University of Illinois in 1873.

“As an Illinois faculty member and a two degree holder from Illinois, I am especially pleased to receive this award named after our distinguished alum,” Professor Selby said as he received the award.

Professor Selby received AIA Central Illinois’ Outstanding Educators Award on October 25 at the awards program in Bloomington at the historic David Davis Mansion. At the same event, Selby also received an award from the American Institute of Architecture Students, the AIAS Excellence in Architectural Education Award. “I’m very pleased that our students thought me worthy of receiving the first ever AIAS award to faculty at Illinois,” Selby said.
“I’ve been very fortunate this week to receive three educator awards. Maybe I should go out and buy a lottery ticket.”
