Mark Pearson is an Assistant Professor of Architecture at the College of DuPage. He is a Licensed Architect and a LEED accredited professional.
Lecture Description:
In 2007 Mark Pearson was awarded the “Clyde Lee and Jane Cecilia Baker Traveling Fellowship” in Architecture from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. During this month long Fellowship he visited buildings in France, Germany and Austria to explore the role that concept plays in the creation of significant works of architecture. His presentation will look at five critically acclaimed contemporary buildings to examine how concept and theory impact the design process. The presentation will also examine the importance of travel in the education of globally minded designers.

My trip followed basically a north to south route through Europe from September through New Year's day. I spent almost two months in Nordic captial cities (Helsinki, Stockholm, Oslo and Copenhagen), about a month in Italy (Venice, Verona, Vicenza, Florence and Rome), and the rest of the time visitng other cities (Amsterdam, Berlin, Prague, Vienna, Nice, Barcelona and Paris).
