Prospective Undergraduate Students
To arrange a visit, please contact the Campus Visitors' Center (217-333-0824). All departmental visits for prospective undergraduates must be arranged through the Visitors' Center. General information sessions and campus tours are also offered through the Visitor's Center.
Travelling By Air
American, Northwest and Delta Airlines serve the University’s Willard Airport (CMI) in Savoy, about 6 miles south of campus. Regular bus and taxi service is available for transportation between the airport and campus. Rental cars are available, but weekday metered parking on campus is extremely limited.
The School of Architecture’s main buildings are located on the one-block long Lorado Taft Drive, near the intersection of Sixth Street and Gregory Drive. (Taxi drivers may not be familiar with Lorado Taft Dr.)
Travelling By Train or Bus
Amtrak (1-800-872-7245) and Greyhound (1-800-229-9424) operate from Illinois Terminal in downtown Champaign and provide regular service to major regional destinations. Bluebird Express (1-800-400-5500) offers bus service between Champaign and Chicago's O'Hare and Midway airports several times a day. City busses and taxis are available for transportation between Illinois Terminal and campus.
Travelling By Car
From Chicago – O’Hare International Airport
Take I-294 S (Tri-State Tollway, Indiana) to I-80 W (Iowa), follow I-80 W to I-57 S (Memphis).

From Chicago – Downtown
Take I-90 / I-94 S (Dan Ryan Expressway) to I-57 S. Follow Directions Below.
From Chicago – Midway Airport
Take SR-50 (Cicero Ave.) South to I-57 S. (Memphis) ramp at 167th St. Follow Directions Below.
From Chicago - Generally
Follow I-57 for approximately 110 miles. When you reach Urbana-Champaign, take I-74 E (exit 237-A) to Neil Street (about 1 mile)
Take Neil Street south to Green Street. Turn left onto Green Street. Turn right at First Street. Take First Street to Gregory Drive (stop sign). Turn left onto Gregory Drive. Turn right at Sixth Street. Turn left onto Lorado Taft Drive. The Architecture Building (undergraduate office) is on the left. Temple Hoyne Buell Hall (graduate and main offices) is straight ahead. Please note: most parking close to our buildings is by permit only on weekdays. Limited metered parking is available on Taft Drive directly in front of the Architecture Building and on Sixth Street. Be careful where you park. Parking regulations are strictly enforced.
From St. Louis
Take the Martin-Luther King Jr. Memorial Bridge or I-64 E into Illinois. Take I-55 N to I-70. Continue on I-70 / I-57 N. Exit at I-72 E (exit 235-A)
I-72 becomes University Avenue. Take University Avenue to First Street. Turn right at First Street. Take First Street to Gregory Drive (stop sign). Turn left onto Gregory Drive. From Indianapolis (airport)
The airport exits onto I-465. Take I-465 N about 5 miles to I-74 W.
It is about 115 miles on I-74 W to Champaign-Urbana.
The first Champaign-Urbana exit is University Ave. (exit 185) Take the University Ave. exit going toward town (west). Continue on University Avenue to 6th Street, turn left. Continue through campus town, the street becomes two-way at Armory St. The next intersection is Gregory Dr. (light) and Lorado Taft Dr. is the next street on the left. Turn left onto Lorado Taft Drive. The Architecture Building (undergraduate office) is on the left. Temple Hoyne Buell Hall (graduate and main offices) is straight ahead. Lodging
If you will be staying overnight, there are many lodging options in the Champaign-Urbana area. Accomodations may be unavailable during weekends with major campus or athletic events. More information is available from the Champaign County Chamber of Commerce.
